How to register a death
Death Registration
You can register the death at British High Commission, Islamabad. Consular death registration is not a legal requirement but there are some benefits:
An entry will be made in the death registry at British High Commission, Islamabad.
You will be provided with a British style death certificate
The General Register Office in the UK will hold a record of the death.
You will need to register the death with the foreign civil authorities and obtain a full foreign death certificate before you can apply for consular death registration. The consular death certificate will not include a cause of death as many foreign death certificates do not include this detail. You can apply for a consular death certificate from British High Commission, Islamabad.
Documentation required:
- Complete Death Registration Form
- Application to Register a Death Overseas
- municipal death certificate of the deceased (with a notarised English translation where applicable);
- cremation or burial certificate;
- doctor's/hospital report detailing cause of death;
- passport or nationality certificate of the deceased.
